“I’m in the aesthetics business. So I want an office that looks clean, with a modern edge to it,” says facial plastic surgeon John M. Hilinski, MD, owner and medical director of San Diego Face & Neck Specialties (www.drhilinski.com).
With PatientNOW’s electronic medical record (EMR) system, hesays he doesn’t need racks of paper charts. “Around the office, we have big computer screens,” plus iPads used by staff members – and by patients for signing informed consent documents.”
Dr. Hilinski says that when he chose PatientNOW, he wanted a comprehensive system that would allow him to grow into it – not lock him down in terms of capabilities. “And PatientNOW certainly met this need.
Along with streamlining his daily duties, PatientNOW enables Dr. Hilinski to create his own personalized templates for documents such as consultation notes or operative reports. PatientNOW also has allowed him to create several automated text snippets that spare him from typing frequently used comments.
“I can just click them into the content on the fly.” Regarding informed consent, for example, once he discusses the risks and benefits of a procedure with a patient, “I can right-click, paste, and bam! It’s documented.” Read more

New partnership helps plastic surgeons Capture more patients and Grow their Practice
PatientNOW and RealPatientRatings® (RPR) announce a new integration with both systems. RealPatientRatings® captures doctor reviews and actual ratings from real patients with a patent pending process that eliminates the fake reviews that plague practices and makes it harder for consumers to make informed choices as they use reviews to choose plastic surgeons.
The PAR – Patient Acquisition and Retention™ system in PatientNOW automatically sends links to RPR surveys. As patients respond anonymously and voluntarily, RPR collects their feedback and delivers critical insights to their surgeons. Because higher levels of patient satisfaction correlate directly to higher conversion rates at consult as well as higher retention and referral post operatively, practices can pinpoint opportunities for growth using regional and national benchmarks.
RPR’s online review strategy helps practices grow and benefit from consumer searches for doctor reviews. RPR publishes its reviews to member websites and on realpatientratings.com which is highly ranked by Google. This dual strategy enhances practice websites with review content and supports members with highly ranked and 100% accurate reviews. “Prospective patients can read reviews that they can rely on from real patients who have already visited the surgeon they are considering,” said RealPatientRatings® founder Marie Olesen. Before we even began our office renovations, we decided to transition from a problematic Practice Management software and purchase PatientNOW. Our decision was to make this comprehensive aesthetic software the digital foundation for our practice since it is intuitive and easy to use. All our staff was required to participate on the personal on-line staff training modules provided by PatientNOW. And when we were ready to “Go-Live” Haley Wierima, PatientNOW’s Director of Training, was at our practice to make sure the implementation went seamlessly. My fear of this being a difficult transition turned out to be a fairly painless process at our practice. When we were ready to initiate additional functionality we didn’t need to purchase a new module since their pricing is all inclusive. So we paid to have Haley come to our office again which turned out to be one of the best investments we could make. And their free monthly training webinars have challenged us to use more and more of all that PatientNOW offers.
In doing a phased implementation of PatientNOW we have been able to put into practice various portions of this comprehensive solution in bite sized pieces. PatientNOW’s training staff has worked with us, at our pace, so that we are now beginning to get a great return for our investment.
